The Struggles of Making Plans In A Group Chat

July 26, 2016

I thank the internet gods for inventing group chat. It definitely made our lives so much easier when it comes to talking to a huge group of people, you don't need to message them one by one now. I find this very useful for school because we usually make a group chat for the whole class and it's where we ask questions or talk about anything school related.
I remember last sem my group mates and I finished our final requirement paper just by talking in a group chat, yup. I also use it to talk and catch up with my high school friends and of course, to make plans with them.

1. Seen or Read Zoned
When your brave soul tried to be the first one out there to throw a plan and take the lead. You may or may not be mentally prepared to get ignored but you still had to do it because you know that there's got to be someone to do it. But getting left on "seen" or "read" by your friends is kind of excruciating.

2. Figuring Out the Time and Date
It seems like everyone's schedule just never meet. Considering school, extracurriculars and all those other crazy things. Finding a time and date that works for everyone seems impossible.

3. When You're the Only One Who Can't Go
The rest of your friends are there making fun plans and then there's you who can't do anything but sit silently and read all their plans about an event you can't attend because you have work or exams.

4. When People Back Out the Last Minute
Let's say that there's already a plan and everything's set for it. Everyone is just so excited because finally you guys will get to hang out again after weeks or months of planning about it. You're ready to go then there's one friend who backs out the last minute. Like seriously? Or you are all in the meeting place and waiting for that one friend but then that one friend texted you saying he/she can't go. What?!

I know you've experienced maybe one or two of these things but nothing feels better than making these plans come to life and have an amazing time. There may be times you want to kill each other while making the arrangements but all these group chat craziness are worth it once you get to spend time with your friends :)

  4. To be honest, it's really, really hard to make an outing for an entire group. So what my friend did was create a Google Form just so everything would be organised! Haha!
